An SEO migration protects rankings, traffic and authority when the site changes profoundly. A domain, CMS or structure change that is handled badly can wipe out years of organic work in a matter of hours.
We plan every phase — before, during and after go-live — to transfer all the accumulated SEO value to the new site, keeping visibility drops and traffic losses to a minimum.
When you need it
- Domain change — rebrand, new name or the merging of several sites into one.
- CMS or platform change — often together with our replatforming support.
- New URL structure or architecture — reorganising categories, paths and content.
- Move to HTTPS or domain consolidation — http→https, www/non-www, merging versions.
What's included
- Pre-migration audit — a snapshot of URLs, rankings, traffic and backlinks to preserve.
- 1:1 URL mapping — every old address matched to the new one, with no orphan pages left behind.
- 301 redirect plan — correct redirects to transfer authority to the new site.
- Staging checks — indexability, meta tags, canonical and structure verified before go-live.
- Assisted go-live and post-launch checks — robots.txt, sitemap, redirects and 404 errors monitored.
- Monitoring — rankings and traffic tracked in the following weeks, with rapid intervention.
How we work
A migration is not something to improvise on launch day. We start from a complete snapshot of the current site, prepare the mapping and redirects, validate everything on a staging environment and follow the go-live step by step. After publication we keep an eye on the data to catch any anomalies immediately and fix them before they turn into losses.
Why BlackFrog
We treat the migration as a project in its own right, with method and proven checklists, not as a technical detail to handle at the last minute.
- Protected traffic: organic value passes to the new site, without avoidable drops.
- Preserved authority: redirects transfer the accumulated trust signals.
- A calm launch: checks before and after go-live, with continuous monitoring.

FAQ
How long before go-live should you be involved?
As early as possible, ideally already at the planning stage. Involving us early means mapping, redirects and technical requirements can be set up in good time, rather than chasing problems after publication.
Is some traffic always lost after a migration?
With a well-managed migration, fluctuations are minimal and temporary. Major, lasting drops almost always stem from missing or incorrect redirects, unmapped URLs or technical issues not checked before go-live: exactly what our process prevents.
Do you also handle redirects and the technical side?
Yes: we set up the 301 redirect plan, the URL mapping, staging checks and post-launch verifications (robots.txt, sitemap, canonical, 404). We can work independently or alongside your developers.
What is the difference with replatforming support?
Migration focuses on the move and on preserving existing performance; replatforming support accompanies the development of the new site so it is born SEO-friendly. The two services often work together on the same project.
